Foodservice Equipment & Supplies announces that Julaine Kiehn, retired director, campus dining services for the University of Missouri, is the recipient of its 2019 Hall of Fame Award. Kiehn will accept her award during FE&S’ 2019 Dealer of the Year and All Industry Awards Gala, which will take place May 18 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.
Kiehn went to the University of Missouri as the assistant director, campus dining services in 1987 and in 1993 she was promoted to director, a position she would hold until retiring in September 2018. Prior to coming to the University of Missouri, Kiehn managed dining operations at the University of Northern Iowa and for the community schools in Davenport, Iowa.
“Julaine Kiehn is a consummate professional who has worked tirelessly throughout her distinguished career to advance the noncommercial foodservice industry,” said Maureen Slocum, FE&S publisher. “Her long-standing dedication to NACUFS and her commitment to mentorship within the foodservice ranks are emblematic of her success. We, at FE&S, are pleased and proud to name Julaine Kiehn as our 2019 Hall of Fame award recipient.”
Throughout the course of her career, Kiehn was an active member in the National Association of College and University Food Services. She served NACUFS in numerous capacities, including as its president in 1998-99. In addition, Kiehn and the University of Missouri Campus Dining Services team won a Silver Plate Award from the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association in 2001.
“This FE&S award is representative of the opportunities and support that I and the Campus Dining Services team received during my time at the University of Missouri,” Kiehn said. “Our success was not about one person. It was always a result of the whole group. Having very talented professionals on the Dining Services Team, the support of the University of Missouri’s leadership and an integral resource in the form of our NACUFS network of contacts made it possible for us to build an innovative program to meet the needs of Mizzou’s students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests.”
FE&S’ Dealer of the Year and All Industry Awards Gala recognizes the foodservice community’s brightest stars by presenting them with some of the industry’s most time-honored awards. Held each year on the Saturday of the National Restaurant Association’s trade show in Chicago, this event brings together the best of the best to celebrate the ongoing success of the foodservice industry. Other awards to be presented the evening of May 18 include: FE&S’ Dealer of the Year Award, FE&S’ Top Achievers, Facility Design Project of the Year and DSR of the Year.
