MTY to add Papa Murphy’s Pizza to its Menu of Companies

In a deal valued at $190 million, MTY Food Group has reached an agreement to acquire Papa Murphy’s Holdings, a take and bake pizza concept. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions including receipt of applicable regulatory approvals.

Frieling Adds Helios to its Distribution Portfolio

Frieling USA is now the exclusive distributor of Helios products for North America. A German manufacturer, Helios’ product lines include vacuum carafes for use in both commercial and home uses.

Wunder-Bar Buys Bubbler Line

Wunder-Bar, a part of The Middleby Corp., has acquired the line of Starline bubblers from the Cleland Sales Corporation. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Energy Star Recognizes a Quartet of Foodservice Equipment Manufacturers

Four foodservice equipment manufacturers were among the 183 organizations and businesses honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with its 2019 Energy Star Awards. These awards recognize “businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements.”

Hoshizaki America, ITW Food Equipment Group and Welbilt each earned Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence recognition from the EPA. The EPA presents the Sustained Excellence Award to partners who have already received Energy Star Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years and have gone above and beyond the criteria needed to qualify for recognition.

True Manufacturing received an Excellence in Product Design award.

T&S’ Bergstein to Retire

BarryBergsteinBarry BergsteinBarry Bergstein, T&S Brass’ retail business development manager, will retire at the end of April after nearly 45 years in the foodservice industry. Bergstein joined T&S Brass in 2015 to help T&S extend its presence among supermarkets and convenience stores.

Prior to joining T&S, Bergstein served as retail supermarket consultant for The Middleby Corporation, vice president of retail supermarket and convenience store sales for Power Soak of Unified Brands and vice president of sales and marketing for BKI Worldwide, a Standex Company.

His retirement will be effective April 30, 2019.

Boelter Names New VP of Contract & Design

In his new role, Prondzinski becomes responsible for leading the Wisconsin-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealer’s nationwide contract and design team.

Brady Updates Several Branches

BradybradyMichael RichardsMichael Richards, a full-line janitorial supply, equipment and foodservice distributor, appointed Michael Richards to the newly created position of sales manager for Idaho and Matthew Huffman to the new position of general manager for California. Brady also hired two sales representatives: Taylor Weston for the Las Vegas branch and David Menicucci for the company’s Reno branch.
